Building The Future
In addition to SCFM’s mission of connecting students with opportunities, we collaborate with partners to tell the stories about people and places in SC and highlight the opportunities that are a part of manufacturing. Explore these statewide initiatives, partnerships and collaborations to build the future together.
Manufacturing Madness
An annual statewide competition, SC companies are nominated, and citizens can vote for the #CoolestThingMadeinSC. Additionally, we highlight the products nominated to students and educators across the state.
Roadtrip Nation – Leap and Grow Documentary
In partnership with the SC Council on Competitiveness and Roadtrip Nation, we have embarked on three separate resources available for SC students, parents and educators.
Aired nationally, this 2022 regional Emmy-winning documentary highlights three young people eager to explore career journeys and the wider world of work in their home state and meet with people of all different backgrounds and interests who are working to bring SC into a bright new future.
Share Your Road
Students and career-seekers need advice on how to navigate the future. The Share Your Road community platform is where local professionals share their career journey stories with fellow and future team members to learn from, grow with and help others in the South Carolina community find their way.
South Carolina Choose Your Road
For both students and educators, this career resource hub includes a five-lesson online discovery course for students to discover their interests, connect with potential mentors, and a Build Your Future Activity Guide for educators to engage with their students. Through stories and advice, students see how their unique skills and experiences—combined with the right training and education—can lead to possibilities right here in South Carolina.
Creative Careers Studio
SCFM partnered with the South Carolina Arts Commission to create five documentary-style short films highlighting creative professionals working in the manufacturing industry.
Follow the journey of a Creative Director, Project Designer and a Textile Designer who demonstrate the value of creativity and arts in their careers.
STEMtasticSC
STEM is everywhere in SC—especially in manufacturing. SCFM has partnered with the South Carolina’s STEM Coalition, Google, W International, Scout Boats and the Maritime Association of SC to showcase STEM and STEAM across all sectors. Discover a world of opportunities and resources at STEMtastic. From fun STEM projects at home, to STEM in the classroom and even jobs.
STEM Signing Day
Are you a high school senior passionate about changing the world through science, technology, engineering, or mathematics? Apply to participate in STEM Signing Day. SC STEM Signing Day is an annual event celebrating South Carolina high school seniors who are committing to STEM fields, recognizing their achievements and future contributions to science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
